IBB ProFIT (Programm zur Förderung von Forschung, Innovationen und Technologien) is Berlin's primary regional innovation grant, administered by the Investitionsbank Berlin (IBB). It supports Berlin-based SMEs and startups conducting R&D projects with commercial potential, covering both personnel and material costs.
Who Can Apply?
SMEs and startups with business operations (Betriebsstätte) in Berlin. Must have fewer than 250 employees. Founders/teams without incorporation may access pre-ProFIT support.
What Does It Fund?
Applied R&D for new products, processes, or services with clear commercialisation path. Technology and knowledge-intensive sectors preferred.
Funding Amount & Rates
Up to €500,000 per project (typically €100K–€350K range). Subsidy rate: 45–60% of eligible costs depending on company size and project type.
Deadlines & Timeline
Application deadline: Rolling applications. IBB evaluates proposals on an ongoing basis — no fixed cut-off dates.
Processing time: 3–5 months from submission to funding decision.
