Programme Overview
EIC Transition is the European Innovation Council's bridging programme between fundamental research (EIC Pathfinder) and market-scale-up (EIC Accelerator). It funds the maturation and validation of novel technologies emerging from EIC Pathfinder, FET, or other EU-funded research projects, helping teams prove commercial viability before seeking investment.
Who Can Apply?
Small consortia (1–5 entities) including at least one SME, startup, or spin-off. At least one beneficiary must have been involved in an eligible predecessor EIC Pathfinder / FET project.
What Does It Fund?
Technology validation in target application environment, business model development, prototype development for market, IP strategy, and business case creation.
Funding Amount & Rates
Up to €2.5M per project (grant only — no equity component). Typical awards: €1M–€2.5M.
Deadlines & Timeline
Application deadline: One to two cut-off dates per year. Check current EIC Work Programme for exact dates.
Processing time: 5–7 months from submission to grant agreement signature.
