Programme Overview
The EIC Accelerator is the European Innovation Council's flagship support instrument for breakthrough, high-risk, high-reward innovations. It targets individual startups and SMEs developing game-changing technologies that require significant scale-up capital. The programme offers a blended finance model: a grant component (non-dilutive) combined with an equity investment from the EIC Fund.
Who Can Apply?
EU-based startups and SMEs (fewer than 250 employees). Individual applicants only — no consortia. Applicants from EIC-associated countries also eligible.
What Does It Fund?
Breakthrough, market-creating innovations with EU/global scale-up potential. Must demonstrate significant technological risk and transformative market impact.
Funding Amount & Rates
Up to €2.5M grant (non-dilutive) + up to €15M equity investment from EIC Fund. Total blended finance: up to €17.5M.
Deadlines & Timeline
Application deadline: Cut-off dates: typically 3–4 per year. Check the official EIC Work Programme for current dates.
Processing time: 4–6 months from submission to final decision (including interviews).
